Student Arrested As “Terrorist” For Writing About Zombies

Zombie threat level: Orange.

Zombie threat level: Orange.

I love Halloween. But nothing compares to the political horror show that is the “War on Terrorism”…

A student in Kentucky has been arrested, faces felony charges, and has been labeled a “terrorist” for writing a short story about zombies.

“My story is based on fiction,” said Poole, who faces a second-degree felony terrorist threatening charge. “It’s a fake story. I made it up. I’ve been working on one of my short stories, (and) the short story they found was about zombies. Yes, it did say a high school. It was about a high school over ran by zombies.”

Even so, police say the nature of the story makes it a felony. “Anytime you make any threat or possess matter involving a school or function it’s a felony in the state of Kentucky,” said Winchester Police detective Steven Caudill.

wow.... Kentucky is a police state. It might as well be seperate from the United States.
  • Kentucky should be spelled R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D...Hope the movie theaters there don't show anything that depicts government agencies, war, schools, zombies,or any type of violence, they'd have to arrest the whole town for being terrorists...Idiots...Leave the kid alone..

Ya. These days you can get arrested about anything. Back when I was in school I got arrested for drawing a project about death. My art teacher told us to draw a hero and give him powers. I drew a villion and called him death. So, I got arrested as a threat the school "or so what they called it". Same thing happened. Dropped charges. Our government is getting kinda gay. They should step out of our lives. Let us govern our own lives. If somebody gets out of line. Thats what the police are for.

what were his grandparents doing reading his journal?

and, no offense to him, but it sounds to me like the teachers in that part of Kentucky aren't doing a very good job of teaching grammar.

jeez, the poor kid! but this is how they make apolitical people political, I guess... still. what a huge shame.
  • Wasn't Poole the inspiration for Partyline's song "Zombie Terrorist"? Or is this just... coincidence? (DUN DUN DUN!)

  • Thanks very much for posting that, Marty. The link I posted doesn't have a date. At least he had the charges dropped...

This is an interesting story for the holiday season, but appears to be out of date.

    from http://bowjamesbow.ca/2005/10/10/all-charges-dr...

Many, many thanks to Zero Intelligence for bringing me this bit of news. William Poole, initially arrested for “terroristic threatening”, has had all charges against him dropped, although he remains on probation.

Poole vaulted to Internet fame (or infamy) back in March when it was reported that the authorities had arrested him because of a set of writings that he claimed was a story about zombies. The zombie connection turned out to be a falsehood, which damaged Poole’s credibility, but it remained unclear whether his writings, which described an attack on a high school in the third person, were really a credible threat, or merely the harmless writings of an angry young man.

“Anytime you make any threat or possess matter involving a school or function it’s a felony in the state of Kentucky,”

It's the "or" that disturbs me, "possess matter involving a school or function it’s a felony in the state of Kentucky" could mean anything, a flyer for a school dance or bake sale for instance. Kentuky is a police state, it would be laughable if was wasn't so frighteningly possible.
  • When I was in grade school, I wrote a story called "Killer High." It was about a student who killed a bunch of other students. This was years before all the school shootings occurred, but I cringe when I think about what would have happened if a teacher would have found it. I didn't have any animosity or anger toward anyone at the school; I simply liked mysteries and murder stories. And, being a kid, one of the settings I knew the best was my school.
  • Sadly, Kentucky police have obviously already been infected and are now brain dead zombies...
