I’ll be speaking about the Green Scare, and the recent Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act arrests, at Drake University next week:

March 24th 2009
Drake University in Des Moines, IA
6 p.m. in the Bulldog Theatre in Olmstead Hall.

I get into Des Moines pretty early on Tuesday, and have the afternoon free. Any locals out there with tips on a good coffee shop or food near the campus?

  • A-Dong is a great Vietnamese restaurant with a large selection of vegetarian/vegan items. Very delicious! Can't speak on non-veg items however. Near the Drake neighborhood.

    looking forward to the talk. I'll echo the recommendation of Ritual Cafe it's on 13th between Locust and Grand. Though Mars is closer to campus, Ritual is better :-)

    I am psched to see you next week. I'm a from Des Moines and there are three really good places to get coffee. One of my favorites is Mars Cafe, which is within walking distance of Drake. Another is Downtown and is called the Ritual Cafe. There is also a pretty cool coffee/comic spot closer to the southside called cup o' kryptonite.
