Upcoming Events with Marie Mason and Derrick Jensen

Marie MasonThis looks like an interesting event. Marie Mason was arrested recently and charged with a 1999 arson at Michigan State University, and subsequently had her co-defendant become a government informant. Derrick Jensen is a wonderful author, and his writing blends a wide variety of issues, including environmental and civil liberties concerns.

They’re holding a live webcast together, and folks around the country are setting up community events to coincide with the viewing. For instance, here in DC:

Derrick Jensen is a ground-breaking and critically-acclaimed author
speaking on civilization, violence, and resistance to ecological collapse.
He is the author of A Language Older Than Words; Listening to the Land;
The Culture of Make Believe; Endgame; and many other titles. Check out
www.derrickjensen.org for more information.

Marie Mason of Cincinatti, Ohio is a long time environmental and social
justice activist and loving mother of two. On March 10th, she was arrested
by FBI, Homeland Security and local police on charges related to two Earth
Liberation Front actions that occured in Michigan, in 1999 and 2000.

Marie’s case is one of the latest developments in what many have dubbed
the “Green Scare”, a recent wave of government repression aimed at
disrupting and discrediting grassroots environmental activism and
criminalizing dissent. For more information, go to www.ecoprisoners.org or

So Kristin, I suppose that the solution to the killing of animals and pollution to the planet will simply fall out of the sky, or better yet, from not eating animal products and recycling?? A personal choice that represents an irrelevant proportion of the billions in our population by quietly mousing to your corner and mumbling to yourself??

You think you're being so liberal and promote "peace and love" while not realizing what a worthless hypocrite you are. You're not standing up for any cause; you just like the pretty mask to hide behind.

And ryan, is not not blatantly fucking obvious to you why the fucking water in Africa is full of toxins and pollutants of civilization or are you that fucking dull not to put two and two together?

    Sewer systems?? Crops?

Ever occur to you that once upon a time human feces was a fertilizer?

People in Africa could have benefited from that research, which was important for developing moth-resistant potatoes. Now, because people who aren't starving had some cause they had to champion, more people had to die.
Genetic engineering just means altering the sequence of DNA. It happens every time one of morons unfortunately reproduces.

ELF is the Khmer Rouge of the environmental movement and it and it's supporters should be treated as such.

Lock her up, and toss away the key. Who does this rag-tag of a trollop think she is for devastating university research conducted to IMPROVE lives? Not only did she destroy over a million dollars worth of progress, she is contributing to the endless cycle of poverty in Africa. Her and Ambrose should be put away for life, and anyone else who thinks its perfectly civil to destroy things because it doesn't mesh with their illogical belief system. I am a deep greenie, a vegan, and an activist, but I would NEVER participate in actions that devastate and cause further destruction. Way to go on killing the cause ELF and people who carry out stupidity in their name!

lock her up and throw away the key. GM crops could improve the lives of the billions of people in poverty around the world. Their lack of fresh drinking water and sewer systems pose a greater health threat than a corn crop that could grow better in arid regions.
