I’ll be heading to Chicago this Saturday to give a talk at an activist conference about the Green Scare and how “terrorism” rhetoric is being exploited to push a corporate political agenda. If you know folks in Chicago, could you let them know about the event? Here’s the rundown. Oh, and check out this great flash banner:

We are happy to announce that ADL will be hosting a forum on animal rights and the green scare at ACME Art Works (1741 North Western Ave) on Saturday, May 26th at 7:00pm. This event will feature speakers from various animal rights groups, tabling by other social justice organizations, video screenings, a raffle and more!

Our featured speaker will be Will Potter, an award-winning reporter based in Washington, D.C., who focuses on how the War on Terrorism affects civil liberties and is the author of the web blog greenisthenewred.com.

Will will be talking on the green scare and how lawmakers and corporations have labeled animal rights and environmental activists as “eco-terrorists” and what we can do to help protect ourselves and our movement from government repression.

Other speakers will cover topics including veganism, animals in entertainment, the fur industry, vivisection, the campaign to close HLS and all speakers will hold a question and answer period following their presentation.

This event is a great place to start getting involved in the fight for animal rights. Mark your calendars, bring a friend and get involved!
