This is ridiculous...Where oil war killers like cheney and bush destroy thousands of lives in their dirty grasping for more money, and exxon-mobile destroys vast areas with their oil spills that they STILL havent paid fines for...are we still just going after the little guys who have the guts to stand up for what they believe is freedom? The FBI is a real terrorist organization that attacks us-the citizenry who object to the terror they spread...
Eco-terrorism is another label for people who care about the environment enough to stand up to corporate warfare on the world...and another excuse for bush/cheney henchmen to use their unlawful power to destroy those freedom fighters who object...

Marie Mason’s situation is even worse that this article portrays it as. While her plea bargain is for 15-20 years and the prosecution has asked for 20, in fact the sentencing guidelines allow the judge pass a much longer sentence. It is very likely that Mason will receive the longest sentence of any Green Scare arrestee. (Compare this to Daniel McGowan - who like Mason was also sentenced for two arsons; he was offered a non-cooperating plea and received 8 years.)

Federal authorities have waged a dirty campaign against Mason since her arrest, which has included severe harassment of her family, in addition to other actions which authorities have done in the pre-sentencing period to negatively influence the case.

One of the milder but more obvious examples of this the prosecutor naming one of the support sites as evidence for giving Mason a longer sentence.

We can see the chain of events:

1.	federal authorities arrest people who engage in economic sabotage, label them terrorists and then seek extraordinary long sentences;
2.	activists defend the arrestees on the basis of the ridiculous charges against them;
3. authorities then claim that the defense of the arrestees is proof of the necessity of the ridiculous charges.

I, for one, admire her for refusing to name names. I can't believe how many people will support capitalism/corporatism over saving the earth and its nice to see people who have their priorities straight.

I think one of the motivations is that the FBI get to look good for lots of 'anti-terrorist' arrests.
The fact that the people are no real threat to anybody and that the FBI must understand that don't get in the way of the FBI parading lots of successful arrests.
Meanwhile, the real terrorists seem to be evading the FBI...
