“drug addict Darren Thurston”? where did this idea come from? It seems like everyone is willing to tar this guy with anything that sounds bad no matter how tenuous the “proof”. Not impressive.

He is not actually a terrosit, but it seems that he likes dealing drugs which from my point of view, it is a very bad thing to do for a person in his position.

Because they (Solondz, Avalon, etc.) had (completely incorrect) information about what was going on there- they thought that a professor was genetically engineering trees to release in the wild and kill all the native species. The trees weren't genetically engineered, and they weren't going to kill off any species. That arson affected a lot of people, and a lot of good work. Furthermore, the work that is done at the Center for Urban Horticulture (and was done there, has always been done there) is stuff that helps the environment and the preservation of the environment; this is stuff that ELF should love.
That's what I care about- not that he was doing or selling drugs. I'm happy he's locked up, even if it's not for the right reason. I say get him back here, try him, and give him the min. 35 years for arson that he deserves.

Why would an elf member torch a horticulture center in the first place? Whats the point? Were the plants harming someone?

a lot of good points being made here. living off crime while on the lam is a high-stakes business. it’s also impossible to completely avoid. the trick would seem to minimize this risk as much as possible. we have high expectations for our fugitives and this is not the first time they have let us down. idealistically, it would be smart not to push nickle bags or shoplift bolt cutters while you are a wanted “terrorist.” in perspective, however, Justin has resisted Operation Backfire as firm as anyone could up to this point. Our support is crucial in how he is able to maintain that resistance.
