I find it interesting how anyone left of center during the Cheney/Bush dictatorship was denied freedom of speech against the policies of the
adminisration (remember the Alien and Sedition act?) and yet the latest Supreme Court ruling regarding corporate campaign spending
was supposedly to broaden the scope of the 1st Ammendment. Once
again I see partisan policies (backed by a stacked Supreme Court) ,
aligned with corporate interests. This nation has been hanging on by a
micro-fiber for sometime now and we are on the precipice of total
collapse yet I've never seen such complacency, ignorance or gullibility
in the people in my life. And now we're in a Catch 22 situation damned
if you do and damned if you don't. I hate to sound pessimistic but.......

Don't forget that we have not only the state security agencies to fear, but also the paramilitaries: The KKK, the Nazis, the Minutemen, the Christian fascists, etc., all of whom likely have their own intelligence files and are of course well-armed. And since a lot of our work is in direct opposition to them, they are on the defensive and see us face-to-face when we show up to oppose them--if we don't take measures to protect our identities.

Like 29 says. Chemicals are a big factor in wearing a mask. As well as bringing eye protection. And if you wear contacts, take your GLASSES to a demonstration and bring a back up pair- no matter how peaceful you expect the action to be. DO NOT WEAR CONTACTS in the presence of chemical weapons. Not only do they retain and accentuate chemicals like CapStun and pepper spray but they are unsalvagable once affected. If you get sprayed in contacts immediately remove them and seek the nearest medical help. Flush with LAW! (50% Liquid Antacid plain flavor/50% Water mixture, as tested in trials by the Black Cross )
FYI Many of the brands of tear gas the police buy contain compounds that are known mutogenics.
So I doubly agree with at least BRINGING a mask/breathing apparatus & vision protective equipment. After all, you don't necessarily have to use it.
BTW Have you ever considered the fact that we are laying out our tactics, social concerns and possible psychological weaknesses for our enemies' absorption, right here in public? I do want to help and I don't agree with being afraid- FEAR is the #1 weapon of the ESTABLISHMENT- I'm just saying that we should be careful to some degree... Signed,
Despite Society

I thought it was in case of pepper spray, but of course if you sense pepper spray you need to cover your eyes quick, too.

Masks are intimidating to the authorities, eh? How about Halloween masks? If we all dress up as Hello Kitty, Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse, and the cops decide to arrest us then, it'll look bad to any kids passing by! :)

That's a good point, Will. I thought I was doing a good thing by turning it into a flyer (similar to the crimethinc 'behind our masks we are you' poster but with more substance) but since I'm using your text I don't want to skew your message... I'll see if I can change it.

@coyote:
Glad you liked the post. I should make clear to folks viewing the flier, though, that I wasn't saying that activists should wear masks, but that here are some reasons why they might and why it's not evidence of criminal activity.
