I urge each of you to contact the Center for Constitutional Rights, which is apparently the only progressive civil liberties organization in the U.S. We need to become members and to urge CCR to file a lawsuit on the grounds that this bill does NOT pass Constitutional muster. Lawsuits are expensive, but all of us together could fund the suit. Please inform your friends and family about this possibility and urge them to get active in this extremely important fight. Free speech and assembly have been discarded. And our ability to speak for the defenseless has been severely hampered. WE CAN'T LET IT GO UNCONTESTED! Let's get on the ball now and make those calls. I spoke with my Congresswoman's office this morning, and her rep said they are getting lots of calls today voicing opposition to this bill.
